FROM TRADITION TO PROGRESS
STEAMING INTO THE FUTURE

Right from the start a pioneering spirit was the driving force behind MAN's engineers - the trail blazing invention of Rudolf Diesel which he developed at MAN between 1893 and 1897 that proved to be the real engine of progress: the diesel engine.

It not only replaced the steam engines usual at the time but also set the direction for building commercial vehicles. MAN has kept pace with and made its mark on this development process for the last 85 years. The success story that MAN is still writing today is thus full of highlights.
